This research is based on the study of basic education through the radio school in the state of
Paraná, corresponding to the period of 1960 to 1987. The use of radio as a teaching resource
will be analyzed to understand the development of projects for youth and adult’s literacy in
rural areas, considering that the radio lessons were intended for the camp/city population.
Also, it will be analyzed the Catholic Church's influence in the basic education, which was of-
fered in the most used mean of communication in the period, the radio. In addition, it is also
an objective to understand what were the intentions of the Catholic Church in contributing to
these classes and understand whether these intentions have suffered influences of Civil-mili-
tary dictatorship (1964 – 1985).
