Abstract: This article focuses the difficulties in wich gabinete
Olinda laboured in 1866, and the market’s struggles about “bank
question”. Resulting from research into Jornal do Comércio e
Correio Mercantil, as well as Parliamentary debate, it
demonstrates that cabinet’s members were bound to business
groups that were interested in that question.
